Is National Preparedness Month A Disaster - 1116 Words

Did you know that September is National Preparedness month? This recognition serves as a reminder that we must always plan to be ready for a disaster (CDC.gov, 2015). Disasters are sudden events, such as an accident or natural catastrophe that causes great damage or loss of life. Merriam-Webster defines it in this manner; something (such as a flood, tornado, fire, plane crash that happens suddenly and causes much suffering or loss to many people; something that has a very bad effect or result. In addition, a complete or terrible failure. When a disaster occurs, communities turn to hospitals not only for care of their loved ones, but also for food, shelter, and to coordinate relief efforts and recovery (Aha.org, 2012). Hospital administrators have the enormous responsibility of ensuring that key tasks are taken care of beforehand. For instance, threat analysis, disaster plan, a well-defined leadership structure, strong emergency communication system, and resource management. Therefore, the only way to deal with a disaster is through preparedness, response, awareness, and recovery. Preparedness Preparedness deals with the state of being prepared (Merriam-Webster Dictionary, n.d.). Being prepared or preparedness, means to plan for events such as these through analyzation and assessment. Knowing what to plan for takes the guess work out of the development of such a plan. Administrators must never underestimate the importance of being prepared. Nevermind free essay sample

If someone came up to you and said, Nirvana is bizarre, they would not be kidding. These three guys from Seattle are very strange, yet they are one of the hottest new groups around today. They came on the scene in 1989 with the release of their first album, Bleach. The album was popular mostly with the college crowds, but mainstream listeners didnt hear much of it. Not so with their second release, Nevermind. Released toward the end of 1991, the album has become an immense hit with the single Smells Like Teen Spirit going to the top of the charts. Nevermind is an explosive album. The songs on the first side deal with everything from environmental issues (In Bloom) to starting a family (Breed), finding yourself (Lithium) and a rather strange ballad about a girl named Polly. Side two explodes with the punk rock rantings of Territorial Pissings. This goes directly into the fast-paced Drain You. Of course, Nirvana is full of surprises. At the end of some copies of the CD, there is a mysterious bonus-track following ten minutes of silence called Endless Nameless. Remedies for Breach of Contract an Example of the Topic Economics Essays by

Remedies for Breach of Contract Abstract Trust is one of the most important factors in any business relationship. To ensure the trustworthiness of each party engaged in any type of business, it is greatly advised they establish a contract to clearly specify whatever they agreed upon. This will also put all the parties involved on the safer side. No business nowadays can work without a contract. Any disputes and arguments will be measurable, and responsibilities will be defined. If all parties can transact well without any problems, then there is no need for contracts. Yet this is an imperfect, complicated world where problems occur. So if one of the parties failed to fulfill the duties under the contract terms, there is a breach of contract. Whenever a breach of contract happens, the party claiming to be breached is entitled to a number of damages and are entitled to numerous remedies to seek redress of the grievances. The presentation started with haste because a definition of the term, breach of contract, should have been a better introduction of the slide. On the second slide, the term liquidated damage was elaborated immediately. It is a monetary remedy, but it was implicitly discussed. There should be a slide before this to introduce the monetary category of the remedies and a proper introduction suggested is: these are the monetary remedies for breach of contract. The term Liquidated damage wasnt even defined clearly. Is it a reward or a penalty? (Breach of contract, slide 2). On the next slide, Nominal Damage was discussed. Again, the word nominal should have been defined. Notice that on the second slide, it stated there that liquidated damages should be nominal, if this is the case, how is it different from Nominal damages? (Breach of contract, slide 3). Punitive damage was discussed on the next s lide, but again, the word punitive should have been defined. It should also state what kind of remedy it is, and its not clear if its a reward or a penalty. (Breach of contract, slide 4). Injunction was presented on the following slide, but no proper introduction was given because this slide started to cover the non-monetary remedies. Again, definition of injunction should have been stated. Restitution, another form of remedy, was said to prevent one party from benefiting from something at the expense of another party. No concrete example was given to explain this phrase, because the fact is, all remedies are there to prevent unjust enrichment. (Breach of contract, slide 6). The summary part of the slide was very brief and disorganized. It should summarize the monetary remedies first, then the non-monetary. Punitive and restitution had been specially mentioned, but the others were not. There should be a balanced, equal discussion of all the damages, if the presenter had to define ju st two among them. (Breach of contract, slide 8). Appendix G Presentation Notes* What is the main point of this presentation? The presentation focused on the different types of remedies that can be monetary or non-monetary to settle the parties involved in the breach of contract. Compare and contrast this topic with the topic you presented. The topic I covered is about Legally Enforceable Sales Contract. The promising party and the promisee enter into a mutual agreement under a contract. Comparing it to the presenters topic, it comes hand in hand with my subject, because if any misrepresentation happened on the part of the agreement by the promising party, there is breach of contract. The promisee is entitled to press for damages toward the promising party. Thus, different remedies to settle the breach have been made. What did you learn most about this topic that was unclear or unknown before? Not all remedies to solve breach of contract require monetary reward. Were any of your questions about this topic left unanswered? If so, what are they? I doubt if the ones given in the report are the only remedies that can be done to solve breach of contract. There are more remedies but were not discussed. (Reinking, J. A. et al. 2003) References Reinking, J. A., Hart, A. W., & Von der Osten, R. (2003). Implementing and Managing Budgets Case Study Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1250 words

Implementing and Managing Budgets - Case Study Example Omega College is a private institution in the Midwest that experiences budgetary challenges because of their limited number of students and resources. The college experience many challenges because they rely on the tuition fees paid by the students to meet their daily operational costs whilst the number of students is not adequately high. For instance international students enroll at the college and study for only a semester then return to their hometowns. The college did not meet their enrolment targets in the last four years and students in other colleges were transferred to the State University to complete their Bachelor’s Degrees. Omega College relies on the generosity of the alumni, friends, and board members to assist finance the annual operating budget. I would recommend the institution in the short term to advertise the programs offered at Omega College at fair prices using various forms of media such as newspapers, televisions, radio stations, and social network sites such as Facebook, which is the most popular social site. Advertising will promote awareness in the society and hence individuals will be aware of the existence of the college and consider enrolling their children at the college. The college can get other additional revenues from projects such as clean water projects and renewable energy projects where they can generate biomass and solar energy and sell to the communities in the area hence generating more finances. I will conduct interviews with the community members to gather data to find out if the options being considered are viable and cost effective. The college will need to work with the master budget to summarize all their projected activities by the way of cash budget, budgeted balance sheet, and the budgeted income statement. Zierdt (2009) noted that the master budget is an all-inclusive projection of how the management plans to conduct all their activities over the fiscal year of the budget period. The college will
